Hi Renata 2 extra days and not having to setup a tent will give you plenty more time to see Australia. Definitely spend some time in Esperance, some of Australia's nicest beaches, and definitely stay a day in Adelaide. Are you making a return journey, if so, think of alternative travel routes so you don't see the same thing on the way back. Also take up Geocaching, you will find some hidden spots and get to see a lot more of Australia. Have fun. Travis

We will be staying in motels and plan to drive during daylight. I am thinking of allowing 2 more days, so we could stop in Adelaide and stay one day there as well.
I was thinking to go via Esperance. Any tips you could give us?

It depends, will you be camping or staying in hotels. We thought 5 days we too rushed, and we didn’t get enough time each day to relax. We also needed to arrive before sunset to give us time to set up our tent.
If you don’t mind arriving to your accommodation each day after sunset, it will be fine.

This is such a helpful blog!

I am planning to do the trip from Perth to Melbourne in a few weeks- but I will just have 4 days to arrive there. I will be driving on a Suzuki swift sharing the wheel with my partner. Should I bring spare fuel with me? With your experience, do you think 4 days will be enough? we would still like to see the view along the road and take some pictures…

On your next holiday, you can leave your dog at home where they are most comfortable and you can have peace of mind knowing they are being fully taken care of. Your dog will be walked, fed, and given drinking water. We can even take care of the poo in the backyard.

I am thinking of doing this trip in my car it is a holden statesman 1999 v6 supercharged from melbourne to perth by myself in my car, i am trying to think of fuel for my car and travel so slowly across the nullabour plain, how much did you take in money for this trip to fuel up and food,

I am pretty sure it isn’t a problem travelling with pets from state to state. We saw many travellers do this, and many dogs at he camp sites.
Only thing is to make sure whatever your accommodation is that they allow pets.

Three of us will be driving from Perth to Melbourne and back in September, we are looking to bring our Kelpie dog. Do you know if there would be any restrictions with animals when going from one state to another?

We will be taking a Holden Commodore.

we averaged about 12-13L/100km for the Hyundai Tuscon, I imagine the Mazda 2 would do a lot better.

at the time of travel, we found the cheapest fuel to be at
Eucla: 135
Nundroo: 115.9
Ceduna: 111.9
Wudinna: 114.9

Bring lots of music and snacks.
