Hi Brooke First have a read through Geocaching.org, and the Getting Started with Geocaching page. Then buy a handheld GPS, I highly recommend the Garmin eTrex H , you can pick one up for around $120, I still own mine. That is pretty much all you need to get started. Travis

Im really interested in this.. Can anyone point me in the right direction. First thing I suppose is to buy a GPS. Any reccomendations?

The container is generally clear with snap locks. Inside it are trinklets from other explorers, and a logbook which you sign upon finding the cache. It’s fun! You should try it. I bet there are plenty in NYC.

Wow! I didn’t even know this existed. What does the actual container look like? Is there a physical container? Do you leave something behind? hehe

You can use any GPS as long as you can input latitude and longitude coordinates as a waypoint (the place the GPS will take you).

Hi Sonya & Travis,

Just a question on Geocaching…It sounds interesting and i’d like to try it but do you have to get a specific GPS that finds caches or can you use just any GPS? I’ve got a GPS but I haven’t really played around with it – I thought all it could do was get me from A to B without getting lost.
